Bianca Smith - Psychologist


Bianca brings experience, warmth, understanding and care to her work as a Registered Psychologist. Her approach to therapy is collaborative, motivational, adapted to individual needs and based on empirical evidence.

Bianca completed her undergraduate training at Charles Sturt University (Bachelor Social Science [Psychology]/Bachelor of Teaching [Primary]) and her postgraduate training at the University of Wollongong (Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology/Graduate Certificate of School Counselling). She recently completed her Masters in Educational Leadership with her major work exploring psychological support services in schools. Bianca also holds a Graduate Certificate in Developmental Trauma through the Australian Childhood Foundation.

Starting her career as a primary school Teacher and School Counsellor, Bianca possesses significant experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. Her areas of interest and specialty include: early intervention, educational/developmental assessment, behavioural assessment, developmental trauma, depression and anxiety, dysfunctional relationship patterns, co-dependency, issues of identity and low self-esteem.

Bianca capably assesses the general mental health of clients, their abilities and behaviour through conducting a variety of psychological tests including psychometric assessments, one-on-one interviews and direct behavioural observations. Given her holistic mindset, Bianca works alongside other health professionals including doctors and allied health specialists as part of a multidisciplinary team to address the mental health needs of clients.

Bianca draws on her knowledge and training within Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy not only to create positive short-term outcomes, but also to equip her clients to maintain the gains they achieve and to be able to more successfully manage future challenges. 

Bianca is a trainer and presenter in topics related to mental health in educational contexts. She also has experience delivering parenting programs to help support and build networks for families. Bianca has completed the Perinatal Non-Directive Counselling Training that allows her to provide non-directive counselling to clients experiencing pregnancy related concerns or issues in accordance with the requirements for items on the Medicare Benefits Schedule.
