FOR OUR YEAR 12’s AS YOU'RE ABOUT TO SIT YOUR HSC EXAMS

I could use this time to share tips on how to prepare for and approach your exams, instead I’ll share the truth in the following 5 reminders:

Reminder 1: Your HSC exams are just one assessment.

You are not “sitting your HSC”, you are completing the final assessment to add to the others you’ve already completed throughout the past three terms.

Reminder 2: Your worth is not defined by what you achieve in your exams
Your value has never, and will never be dependent on what you achieve in any exam or assessment. Your worth, life, is not defined by your exams. It really begins when they're finished.

Reminder 3: Your ATAR is only one way into university.

It’s not the only way. There are many pathways and you will find the route that is right for you.

Reminder 4: Whatever path you choose after school is the right one for you, right now.

You can always make a change if you want to, now or in the future.

There is no single “right” direction.

Reminder 5: In 12 months, probably much sooner, no one will ask you about your ATAR again.

It’s a number that might matter for a short while, but you’ll quickly find that it is you that people are interested in.

Your qualities, interests and character. It's always important to give everything you do your very best, but keep some perspective.

Bonus Reminder: Be proud of and recognise your effort, resilience, and growth.

This applies not just to your academic achievements, but to the young adult you’ve become after navigating 13-years of schooling and life.

You’ve got this.

The best is yet to come!
