Sarah Darlington-List - Counsellor

Sarah started her career as a mental health professional in both a rehabilitative inpatient setting and an outpatient private practice.

Sarah is trained and experienced in treating clients with a broad range of mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, personality disorders, PTSD, adjustment disorder, grief and chronic pain. Sarah works with adult patients across the life span. She is especially interested in obesity related mental health issues, as well as working with older people.

Sarah’s work is founded on evidence-based treatment methods and techniques, keeping the focus on each individual patient’s circumstances, values and goals in life. She combines psychometric assessment methods with clinical information, resulting in a well-grounded diagnosis and treatment plan.

Sarah was trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and draws from a number of theoretical approaches, developing an individual treatment plan for each patient. Sarah incorporates relaxation and awareness methods, self-care and imaginative techniques into her practice. She believes the value of psychotherapy lies in giving patients the opportunity to conquer challenges by openly reflecting on their emotions, beliefs, behaviours and personal biography in a safe, sympathetic and positive environment.

Sarah was trained in Germany and currently works as a counsellor while working on her Clinical Psychology registration with AHPRA.
