ACTS OF KINDNESS CAN CHANGE THE WORLD

My greatest wish has always been that my kids are kind people.

Working in the education space for over 13 years, this wish has now expanded. I wish that my kids, and yours, are kind, and are treated with kindness.

So how do we create a kinder world?

Each of us, in our role as parents, as educators, as trusted adults in children's lives have the job to model, to talk about and to encourage kindness.

Did you know research shows serotonin (a feel good hormone and neurotransmitter) is triggered by acts of kindness? Impacts including promoting healing, a sense of calm, increase in self-worth and overall happiness have been reported (Breazele, 2012 and Carter, 2011).

Even more impressive is the findings that acts of kindness improve the wellbeing of the giver more than the wellbeing of the receiver (Curry et. al., 2018).
On this World Kindness Day, throughout Kindness Week and throughout each day be kind to others, to yourself, and the world.
If every Australian performed an act of kindness, we would experience 27 million acts of kindness in a single day. For a moment imagine the echoes of this!

Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless. Mother Teresa
